Persecuted Rohingya Underscored RRW's Inspiration

Every incredible journey begins with a seed—a small yet potent idea that takes root in the fertile soil of passion. As the initiator of RRW – Rohingya Resilient Women, I am dedicated to RRW’s thorny path; my journey on this path was sparked by the centuries of untold suffering endured by millions of Rohingya men, women, and children. Through atrocities ranging from persecution and murder to displacement from our historic homeland, the “Kingdom of Arakan,” my passion for amplifying the voices of Rohingya resonated.

Rohingyas are the most persecuted ethnic people in modern days

Rohingya and diasporas are the interchangeable term.

Inspirational figures on initiating RRW

In joining this journey, Dr. Linda Bartolomei, a Senior Lecturer and co-convener of the Forced Migration Research Network at UNSW, and Dr. Eileen Pittaway, the Director of the Centre for Refugee Research (CRR) and Senior Lecturer in the School of Social Sciences and International Studies at UNSW have been a compelling of inspiration. Their significant advocacy for refugee women and girls has continually encouraged my growth. Guided by their wisdom, I’ve become more proficient, expanding my mind as I navigate this meaningful journey.

Sharifa Shakira

Additionally, the unwavering support of Dr. Leena Khaled al-Mujahed, the Founder of YRWO-Yemeni Refugee Women Organization, has been a crucial element in evolving this path. Her accessibility and collaboration have played a pivotal role in shaping the course of our mission.

I found inspiration in the remarkable Sharifah Shakirah, a voice for Rohingya championed internationally. Her relentless efforts, alongside the flourishing work of RWDN, ignited a flame within me, and countless Rohingya women dispersed across the globe.

Unwavering underpins to step to RRW

The cadre and personnel of organizations involved in WAGAR- Women and Girls at Risk have been a wellspring of inspiration. My heart forever hails them for their endless dedication.

In the pursuit of Showing our determination through this book, we are sowing seeds of resilience. Together, we can transform the narrative and create a brighter future for the resilient voices that have been silenced for too long.
