Significant collaborations between the Rohingya Resilient Women – The RRW and Project Stand Up (PSU) and transformative focus group discussions were held regularly with Rohingya youth girls and boys in Malaysia. The initiative aimed to foster collaboration, listen to the voices of the youth, and collectively find ways to uplift refugee communities through youth leadership.

The project focuses on improving female participation in learning opportunities, both formal and informal, while simultaneously increasing young people’s involvement in designing and leading solutions to the challenges that matter most to them and their communities. Additionally, PSU strives to enhance young women in refugee communities’ access to information.

Understanding Project Stand Up (PSU):

Project Stand Up (PSU)stands out as a dynamic refugee-led initiative guided by the principles of youth-adult partnership (YAP) methodology and refugee-led action and allyship. PSU represents an ongoing effort spearheaded by youth, with a clear mission to enhance participation, decision-making, and the initiation of solutions among refugee youth.

PSU is an award-winning initiative focused on improving access for girls.

Project Stand Up (PSU) is a youth-driven initiative from a Development Studies class at the Fugee School in early 2016. Since then, it has become a globally recognized, award-winning initiative focused on improving access to and participation in education, particularly for girls.

The focus group discussions provided a platform for open dialogue, allowing the voices of Rohingya youth to be heard and considered in developing solutions.

Annual Appreciation Ceremony 2023:

In a celebration of achievements and leadership, the annual Appreciation Ceremony 2023 took place at the Chinese Embassy Hall in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

During this significant event, Hafsa Khanom, the initiator of RRW, was honored with the prestigious “Youth Leader Award.” This recognition was bestowed upon her for her exponential influence in fostering leadership among young Rohingya women, making a notable impact within the Rohingya community.
